Brow Lift / Forehead Lift in our Miami office

As you get older and your skin begins to lose elasticity, your brow may begin to droop or sag, and you may develop deep creases or wrinkles on your forehead. This can give you the appearance of a permanent scowl even when you are happy. A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, can reposition your brow and smooth out the skin of your forehead in order to give you back your happy expression and a more youthful appearance.

When you are considering a brow lift or any other type of cosmetic surgery, picking a doctor you can trust is one of the most important considerations. Dr. Roudner is an experienced and skilled cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon in Miami, Florida. He is a member of numerous professional associations, has co-authored several chapters of a textbook on plastic and reconstructive surgery and is the recipient of multiple awards and notable honors.

The Brow Lift Consultation

When you call our Miami clinic, you will be scheduled for your consultation with Dr. Roudner. At this consultation, Dr. Roudner will discuss the brow lift procedure with you, answer your questions and gain an understanding of your goals and expectations for the procedure.

Dr. Roudner will also ask about your medical history and any medications you are taking. Please bring a full list of your medications and supplements with you to your appointment. When you are ready, your surgery will be scheduled. Your brow lift may be done here at the clinic or at one of the other fine hospitals in Miami. You will also discuss your anesthesia options, which include IV sedation and general anesthesia. Together, you and Dr. Roudner will choose the anesthesia that best meets your needs.

The Brow Lift Procedure

Once you are prepped for surgery and either sedated or under anesthesia, Dr. Roudner will start your brow lift by making the first incision. The incisions are typically small and along your hairline so that once they have healed they will not be noticeable.

Your brow lift may be performed endoscopically, which means that small instruments will be placed into the incision, and the surgery will be conducted through the use of a surgical video device. This allows for smaller incisions.

If endoscopy is not right for you, the surgery will be performed manually. In this case, your incisions will be slightly larger, and you may also require incisions along your eyebrows. Once healed, these incisions will also be well-concealed.

In some cases, a coronal brow lift may be required. This technique requires an incision in the scalp that runs from ear to ear. The skin is then lifted to allow the tissue beneath to be repositioned.

Once the skin is redraped and pulled smooth, excess skin will be trimmed away, and the incision will be closed with sutures or surgical adhesive. If your brow lift includes a brow elevation, you may receive permanent sutures or surgical screws to hold the brow in place.

After Your Brow Lift Surgery

Bruising and swelling are to be expected for several days following your brow lift. In time, these will fade, and your results will become more evident. Follow Dr. Roudner’s instructions for self-care following your brow lift and take your medications as directed to help reduce your swelling and discomfort.

Dr. Roudner will advise you as to when it’s appropriate for you to return to regular activity following your brow lift. Keep your follow-up appointments and don’t try to rush your healing.
